My Mary Kay Business
What is the Mary Kay opportunity?
The Mary Kay opportunity is a direct sales opportunity where a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant sells Mary Kay® products directly to her customers. The foundation of a strong Mary Kay business is and always will be the sale of amazing Mary Kay® products to customers! Active Beauty Consultants can earn up to 50% profit** on products sold at suggested retail regardless of their career path status.

Mary Kay does not pay for or require Beauty Consultants to recruit team members. And an active Beauty Consultant can earn 50% profit** on products sold at the suggested retail price without developing a team. Commissions are paid for promoting the retail sale of Mary Kay® products.

How do I earn money with my Mary Kay business?
The earning opportunity associated with a Mary Kay business is individual and unique, so it is impossible to guarantee that a particular amount of income can be earned. How much money you make as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant will depend on many factors, such as your personal business goals, time invested and business expenses. You can earn up to 50% profit** on everything you sell at the suggested retail price, and you can feel confident that you are selling products you can believe in. This flexible opportunity lets you choose how much or how little to work your Mary Kay business as you strive to meet your goals!
What resources are offered to me to help me run my Mary Kay business?

With a Mary Kay business, you are in business for yourself, but never by yourself! Mary Kay continually develops resources to help you along the way, including product education, marketing materials, promotions, team-building playbooks and fliers, and social media playbooks and tips. All are available through Mary Kay InTouch®, a website exclusively for Mary Kay independent sales force members.

To help put you at ease as you navigate your first skin care, color and/or pampering parties, Mary Kay offers access to online education and a Flip Chart. There is even an innovative online shopping experience that brings Mary Kay to life. Mary Kay® apps are designed to help you manage your business and reach customers where they are. No matter your comfort level with technology, you’ll find all of these apps easy to use.

Do I need to purchase inventory as a new Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant?

If you've just started your Mary Kay business, it is important to know that purchasing inventory is an individual decision. It's certainly not a requirement for you to begin your Mary Kay business. We always recommend that you determine what activity level you intend to pursue in your Mary Kay business and then, if appropriate for your personal circumstances, invest in the amount of inventory that supports that activity.
You can always rest assured that there will be Company-published materials, resources and programs available to you that contain excellent sales tips to help you successfully sell Mary Kay® products. You also have the opportunity to ask other successful independent sales force members, such as your Independent Sales Director, for tips and advice on selling your products.
Finally, if you decide that a Mary Kay business is not for you, you can take comfort in knowing that the Company will repurchase, at 90 percent of your original net cost, original and unused Section 1 products, provided such items were purchased by you from the Company within one year prior to return.

About the Direct Selling Industry
What is direct selling?

Direct selling is a way to sell products or services person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location. A direct sales business allows you to connect with customers in many ways: one-on-one, at in-person, virtual or hybrid parties, through online resources, such as interactive catalogs and social media, or by phone.

What sets Mary Kay apart from other direct sales companies?
Mary Kay has been in business for almost 60 years, and we are proud of the entrepreneurial opportunity we offer and the incredible products we make. Mary Kay remains among the best beauty brands globally, and our unique business model has stood the test of time in nearly 40 countries around the world. The Mary Kay business model is simple: Active Independent Beauty Consultants can earn up to 50% profit** on Mary Kay® products they sell to their customers at suggested retail.

With a Mary Kay business, there is no requirement that an Independent Beauty Consultant recruit to earn a profit on product sales. Every Independent Beauty Consultant signs an Agreement directly with the Company, and whether she recruits or not, she is offered the same wholesale discount as every other active Beauty Consultant.

Purchasing inventory is never required to start or maintain a Mary Kay business. There are many fabulous reasons an Independent Beauty Consultant might want to have inventory on hand – but it is not a requirement. The Company provides resources, such as the Mary Kay® App, to help Independent Beauty Consultants have an avenue to sell to customers without carrying inventory.

How do I know if direct selling is for me?
A direct-selling opportunity is a flexible option for adults of all ages, genders and income levels. It is an especially good opportunity for those who want more flexibility and for those who want an opportunity that fits their lives. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy working with people, this opportunity could be right for you.

*The Mary Kay® eStart offer cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions. Mary Kay Inc. reserves the right to extend, modify, eliminate or reduce this offer at any time. Depending on the identity verification information provided, the third-party provider may request additional information to substantiate your identity; however, providing any verification information is not a guarantee the third-party will grant you access. Those terms may be supplied to you within the Mary Kay® Starter Kit and Mary Kay® eStart service or directly by the third-party provider. If you are unwilling or unable to comply with third-party providers' terms, conditions and fees, Mary Kay is relieved from guaranteeing access to such third-party services. Third-party terms, conditions, fees and obligations are not considered when Mary Kay calculates its obligations under the Company's 90% Repurchase Policy.
